From album sales to stage performances, French and French-speaking artists are increasingly managing to export abroad. But who are these Frenchies who have managed to reach the international scene?
- David Guetta
Famous DJ David Guetta crushes all competition when it comes to selling records abroad. His latest album “7” released on September 14, 2018 is already certified twice as a diamond disc with more than a million copies sold. In the United States, the album debuted in 37th position. “7” was number 2 in Switzerland at launch, number 3 in Spain and number 9 in Australia and the United Kingdom. On September 25, the album was certified as a gold record in Canada with 40,000 sales.
- Maître Gims
“My heart was right”, the second album by singer Gims sold 581,000 copies. Twice diamond disc therefore. When he came out in 2015, the artist landed in pole position with this double album, composed of pop songs and rap songs. Leading the sales for three weeks, the album never left the top 200 in France. Gims has sold more than 5 million albums since the start of his career

“The Wanderings of the Avener”, the only album by Nice DJ The Avener is still selling well 3 years after its release in January 2015.
